Compact and Mission-Critical
The H-Series is TrueNAS's compact platform for edge sites, small data centres and branch offices. In just 2U it combines 12 tri-mode bays, optional dual-controller HA and full NVMe support — selectable per bay. The H-Series therefore covers hybrid pools, pure SAS pools and pure all-NVMe pools in the same chassis.
The series comprises three models: H10, H20 and the new H30 (launched in January 2025) — positioned by iXsystems as the "Swiss Army Knife of Storage". All models run the full TrueNAS Enterprise suite — snapshots, replication, inline compression, fast deduplication, RDMA and Truecloud backup.

Max effective capacity follows the iX marketing convention (2× raw), matching the official iX datasheets. Concrete configuration examples above use the conservative LZ4 ~1.43 factor.
Architecture and expansion
The 2U chassis combines tri-mode bays with optional HA and 100 GbE options — in a compact form factor.
12 tri-mode bays
Each of the 12 hot-swap bays accepts SAS HDD (8-26 TB), SAS SSD (1.9-15.36 TB) or NVMe SSD (3.8-61.4 TB) — selectable per bay.
Dual-controller HA optional
All three models are optionally available with dual-controller HA — failover without data loss and with virtual IP migration.
100 GbE-ready (H20/H30)
H20 and H30 support 2× 40/100 GbE or 4× 10/25 GbE — enough bandwidth for virtualisation and VDI.
Up to 1.5 PB all-NVMe in 2U (H30)
With 12× 61.4 TB NVMe drives, the H30 reaches up to 1.5 PB effective flash capacity — ideal for AI inference at the edge.
